African-American Leaders of Tomorrow (AALOT) is a club that helps black students at our school enhance leadership skills, build community, and discover opportunities in Greater Lafayette.  Through B Club meetings, we'll host speakers and activities, and outside of school, we'll engage in group enrichment activities.

Anime Club is for Anime fans to come and hang out with others in a like-minded community.  Activities include watching Anime shows and movies, playing games, and having intense Anime conversations.

Art Club is open to any MHS student, even if they are not currently enrolled in an art class.  In Art Club, students will work together to create a list of activities related to art for them to complete during activity period on club days.  Larger art projects may be done outside normal school hours.  The purpose of Art Club is to create a safe community of creative students and make art.

The Audio-Visual Club (AV) works in the MHS Auditorium with the lights and sound for most productions and convocations.  This includes Fall Play, Spring Musical, Choir & Band Concerts, Creative Corral Performances and various meetings throughout the school year.  Students involved in AV Club get hands on experiences learning how to:

1.  Operate our light board, sound board, spotlight & live streaming equipment
2.  Create lighting effects with colors
3.  Add reverb or other effects to a microphone
4.  Problem solve.

Club Meeting Time: This club meets after school 1-2 times per month from 2:30-4:30 PM.

We encourage students to attend Board Games Club as their schedules allow.  Come when you can and learn new games.  Most games that we have are those that you may not have heard of, but can be learned, played, and enjoyed in under and hour.  Examples of some games played from last year include:  The Resistance, Blink, Run for Your Life Candyman, We Did Not Playtest this Game, Survive, Cube Quest, Munchkin, and House on the Haunted Hill.

The McCutcheon Book Club is open to all students.  We will start by discussing the books students have been reading on their own.  Sometimes we will discuss whatever books students want to talk about.  Students can come and listen to other students talk about books.  We will try to have a group read the same book based on student interests and book availability.  We are open to ideas and suggestions.

Bridges is a mentorship club focused on building bridges between the ELL students and the rest of the student population to provide them with academic and social support.

Card Club provides a laid back environment where students can hang out with their friends and meet new people while playing cards.  the primary card game that typically generates the most excitement is Euchre.  However, you are welcome to play any card game you like.  Join us during activity period to have some fun and maybe learn a new card game or two.

Champions Together is a group of students who work together to help create a culture of inclusion for our special needs students with a focus on providing athletic opportunities.

Chess Club is open to chess enthusiasts of all skill levels.  If you play chess all the time and want people to practice against, great!  If you've never played chess and want to learn the rules, that's fine too!  This is a great place to exercise your brain with some friendly competition.

Citizen Science works with local environmental groups to learn about taking care of our local green spaces.  We will have guest lecturers and several volunteer opportunities with local stewardship groups, like NICHES Land Trust.  If you care about the environment and want to learn how to get involved in helping the community, join us in Citizen Science.

The McCutcheon Creative Writing Club is a place where you can work on your writing and share you work.  We short writes on various topics during club meeting times.  We provide feedback for each other and encouragement in your writing journey.  If you are looking for an inclusive and welcoming club, this is the place for you to let your creativity and imagination flourish!

Club Meeting Time: A Club and after school on Theatre Mondays from 2:30-3:30 PM

Drama Club at McCutcheon involves both curricular and extracurricular opportunities.  Theatre Arts ad Advanced Theatre Arts are elective courses available for students to deepen their knowledge of Theatre in the classroom in a "hands-on" environment.  The Fall Play, Spring Musical, Holocaust Play, workshops, and community performance opportunities give students a chance to participate in theatre after school.  The club also sponsors an Original Scene & Film Festival in the spring where students can write their own scripts, audition, and develop a scene or make a film for competition with other club members.  Scenes and Films are viewed for recognition at our end-of-year celebration.

The Feminism Book Club is dedicated to reading works by feminist authors.  The group meets monthly during club time, but will also have optional outside of school activities to facilitate comradery in the club.  The reading are usually excerpts from books.  Works read includes excerpts from Bad Feminist, The Second Sex, The Feminist Mystique, and Lessons in Chemistry.  We also had a "dinner and a movie" activity last year and viewed The Barbie Movie while eating Chinese take-out.  Everyone is welcome!

Club Meeting Time: A Club

Film Club established for all movie-lovers who care to view, discuss, and generally appreciate films, both old and new.  As a club, we explore films in various genres and discuss their impact on society, pop culture, etc., their timelessness in a fast-evolving world, as well as qualities of camera work, performance, and so forth.  After school meeting typically occur once every month on a Wednesday and begin at 2:30 PM.

In 2025, we hosted a convocation called, Rachel's Challenge.  The story comes from a non-profit organization called Friends of Rachel, which arose from the Columbine High School tragedy in 1999.  This organization focuses on creating a school environment free from harassment, violence, and self-harm, in memory of Rachel Joy Scott, who before her death, wrote about chain reactions and that, "...people will never know how far a little kindness can go."

The FOR Club is for those students interested in creating a "permanent culture of kindness and compassion."  There may be scenarios where members of the FOR Club will be asked to advocate and assist other MHS students seeking understanding and empathy from peers.  Additionally, we will brainstorm idea we can implement at MHS this school year to spread goodwill.

The French Club at McCutcheon exists to appreciate Francophone culture.  that means the culture from any of the French-speaking regions of the world - Canada, Louisiana, North Africa, and Europe - including France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Luxembourg.  How?  A recurring theme in French culture is SAVOR the simple things in life.  Savor culinary flavors, savor the company you're with...slow down.  Every year has been a little different, but historically outside of school, we attend the Feast of the Hunters' Moon at Fort Ouiatenon in West Lafayette, we prep French dishes to be taken home to finish and share with family, enjoy movie nights, taste local delights at French-inspired restaurants or cafes in town and celebrate major holidays such as Noel and Mardi Gras with potluck soirees. During Activity Period, we color or paint, play French board games, or weather permitting, play French bocce ball.

In this strategy game, you lead your own country and can do whatever you want, from managing an economy, a military, or international relations.  Monthly, everyone will face unique events (like famines or terrorists).  

How will you navigate this yearlong adventure?

McCutcheon's Growing in Faith Together Club is for students who want to learn about and grow in the Christian faith through activities that focus on understanding and living out biblical truth.  We believe that our loving God provides salvation as a gift that we cannot earn.  You do not need to be a Christian or go to a church to be part of the club.

• The club meets monthly during activity period.  Members usually hear from a guest speaker - sometimes from outside the school.
• Occasional luncheons (during school lunch periods) are scheduled with devotional messages from local youth pastors or other guests.
• GIFT also has Friday morning prayer and worship time (before school) led by the club officers.

Mavs Changing Minds (MCM) is an advocacy club affiliated with the national non-profit Bring Change 2 Mind (BC2M) organization.  The club promotes positive mental health for students, teachers, and all Mavs.  Some of the club activities have included community mental health connections, treats for fellow Mavs, and discussing stress management while coping with the anxieties Mavs may face.  MCM is a student-led club.  Students should join this club if interested in learning more about mental health topics in a safe and supportive environment, learning about tools and resources to help normalize these conversations, and eliminate stigma within our communities.

Mentors is for students who would like to be role models for underclassmen.  They can help with schedules, building tours, life advice, and helping everyone feel like they belong.  We help with several events throughout the year, including Freshmen Orientation and Student & Snacks.  Mentors is invitation based, however, if you would like to join the Mentors Club, please email Ms. Crum at rlcrum@tsc.k12.in.us.

Each year, FIRST Robotics Competition releases a new game, and teams have eight weeks to design and build a robot.  Here at Maverick Robotics, you don't need any experience to join us in a hands-on, student-focused experience where mentors will help you learn meaningful career and life skills.  These kills include programming, designing, building, wiring, and imagery.  There is no fee to learn with us in the off-season, but there is an associated fee for the competition season taking place during the spring semester.

Science Olympiad is one of the many academic teams offered at McCutcheon.  However, it is unique from the others in that it operates much like a track and field competition.  You and your team will compete in multiple events that center around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) topics and skills.  Some examples of events include: demonstrating your knowledge in different areas of science, testing your knowledge through problem-solving tasks/scenarios, and creating a product through the engineering design process.  Join us to spend time with your friends and meet new people, while also gaining skills that will help you in college and/or a career after high school.  This club will have regular meetings after school.

This club is for those wanting to make improvements in their own lives.  We will set and help each other accomplish goals throughout the year.

Students in Action is a group for students who want to make a difference through service.  Our students develop and expand leadership skills by planning, implementing, and recognizing service that is done within the community.  SIA here at McCutcheon currently runs Mav Threads, the school clothing store, which is available to all students.  SIA also participates in other service projects for our school community.  Members of SIA participate in training conferences at Purdue University throughout the school year and have an opportunity to present their service projects to the community at the end of the school year.  We are looking for students who are enthusiastic and love helping others!

Spanish Club members will have an opportunity to gain knowledge in Hispanic culture.  These experiences will come in many ways, such as movie night, chocolate caliente & charla, music, cuisine, games, and more.  come join us and broaden your cultural appreciation.

Club Meeting Time: This club meets on Saturdays at 10 AM.

The Trap Team competes in trap shooting competitions.  Practice is at the Linden Conservation Club.  Club members shoot shotguns (12 and 22 gauge) at clay discs that are flung across a field.  There is a $5 fee for each practice and a $25  ATA (Amateur Trapshooting Association) registration fee, which allows members to compete.

Girls Who Code is on a mission to close the gender gap in technology and to change the image of what a programmer looks like and does.  Through this club, students will:

• Join a safe and supportive environment of peers and role models where students learn to see themselves as computer scientists and/or engineer minded.
• Learn the concepts of loops, variables, conditionals, and functions that form the basis of all programming languages.
• Work in team to complete projects that solve real-world problems in our community.

Although the focus of this club is to empower women and non-binary students to learn code, this club is open to all students at McCutcheon.
