This summer, senior A.J. Rademacher will become fluent in Spanish thanks to the intense and supportive I.U. Honors Program in Foreign Languages. He will live with a host family in Ciudad Real where he will also attend classes specifically designed for him and the other 29 Indiana high schoolers selected to participate. A.J. is a phenomenal student in all performance areas (spoken, listening, written work and assessments), however, this program is not just for A+ students.
Students who have averaged B's or C's in French or Spanish have applied, been accepted, and come back fluent. What determines a student's growth in the program often has more to do with an enthusiastic, "go for it" attitude and flexibility than grade average. Does the idea of living in France, Spain, or Mexico and becoming fluent in French or Spanish sound exciting to you? Would you like to have a chance to see world-famous sights? If you are a parent or World Language student reading this, please consider the program, and ask your 3rd-year teacher to help you apply in September! ¡Buen viaje, A.J.!
