Three TSC schools named National Healthy Schools
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation has awarded the 2018 National Healthy Schools Bronze Award to Hershey Elementary School, Wyandotte Elementary School and McCutcheon High School. The schools are being recognized for making changes that promote healthier eating and physical activity for students and staff.

The Alliance for a Healthier Generation recognizes schools that meet or exceed stringent standards set by its Healthy Schools Program for serving healthier meals and snacks, getting students moving more, and empowering school leaders to become healthy role models.

"The amount of work required by these schools to submit their practices for evaluation was substantial," says TSC Assistant Superintendent for Personnel Dr. Susan DeLong. "Their commitment to the #TSCINtegrate initiative is unwavering. I appreciate everything our employees are doing to ensure a health-promoting culture thrives in our schools."

INtegrate is a statewide school wellness program that encourages everyone to make healthier choices like drinking more water and getting more exercise.

According to the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a healthy school is vital to preparing students for success. Because children spend most of their time at school, schools can be part of the solution by providing healthy food and physical activity opportunities, which positively affect students' academic and lifelong success. Studies show that healthy students perform better on tests, get better grades, attend school more often and behave better in class.
