TSC to honor graduates with virtual ceremonies

The TSC will hold virtual commencement ceremonies June 7 to honor the class of 2020. Administrators reviewed alternative dates, venues and other options, but because of the ongoing uncertainty of the pandemic felt it was in the best interests and safety of students and their families to hold a virtual event.

TSC has partnered with Purdue University’s Hall of Music Production staff to capture as much tradition as possible by recording different speeches, comments from the valedictorians and other elements from each school. The name and school photo of each graduate will be displayed as each name is announced.

“Despite remote learning and disruptions to many other of life’s big moments, McCutcheon and Harrison seniors are not only persevering, but they are completing the necessary requirements for earning a high school diploma,” says TSC Superintendent Scott Hanback. “While this senior class may be disappointed about not getting to enjoy a traditional senior year, they are showing great character and overcoming adversity. We couldn’t be more proud of their efforts. For better or for worse, the Class of 2020 will hold a special place in history.”

The virtual commencement video will be released June 7 on the Harrison and McCutcheon websites. The Harrison High School ceremony will be released at 1 pm and the McCutcheon ceremony at 4 pm.
