MHS FFA Celebrates a Busy and Successful Spring Season
Alicia Spray

It has been an exciting and productive spring for the MHS FFA chapter, with students achieving success across multiple events and competitions.

The livestock judging team has earned a spot at the state competition on May 2.  The state-bound team is led by senior Parker Walters and includes Ainsley Stonecipher, Cooper Bymaster, and Cuncan Baitz.

MHS FFA also saw impressive participation at the Leadership Development Events (LDE) convention, with a total of 15 competitors representing the chapter.  Four students will advance to the state convention in June: Emma Verhey and Hayleigh Summerfield in the Natural Resources Systems demonstration, Brianna Boss in Food Science demonstration, and Sofia Gaytan-Rodriguez in the Spanish Creed event.  Additional top finishes included Trevor O'Connell (3rd in Ag Sales) and Russell Spears (3rd in Extemporaneous Speaking).

In addition to these accomplishments, a dedicated group of students is gaining experience in horse judging and evaluation under the direction of Mrs. Leichty.  The group attended a workshop over spring break and is preparing to compete this fall.

Looking ahead, the chapter will install new officers this week and begin its annual community service project, supporting Grant's House through beading activities and volunteer efforts.

Congratulations to all MHS FFA members and the advisors on a successful and impactful spring season!
