Meet the Teacher - Andrew Martin
Kerry Yoder

I am from the Chicago area (SW suburbs and NW Indiana). My wife is a professor at Purdue University (the reason we moved down this way). We have been married for a little over 36 years. We have two children, Andrew and Melanie. They live and work in Austin, TX.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with teaching certification from Purdue Calumet (now Purdue Northwest).

I am a teacher because of my wife. She was an elementary teacher. I saw how she worked with her students in helping them learn new things and decide that was what I wanted to do. I have an Electrical Engineering background so when I went back to school to become a teacher, I was deciding on whether to become a math teacher or physics teacher (my two favorite subjects). I was closer to getting my math degree than physics so I decided to become a math teacher.

I have coached baseball for 26 years and football for 24 years. I love to ride my bicycle. I love to cook. One of my favorite books is Mind and Matter by John Urschel (former NFL linemen turned mathematician). As for movies, they are too many to list, but I love a good comedy movie anytime.
