Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! The McCutcheon Bands have a proud tradition of excellence and this year has 200 students enrolled in band classes! The heart of our program is our concert bands which have consistently earned superior ratings at ISSMA contest. Concert Band classes provide the students with the opportunity to learn the classic literature of music history as well as numerous contemporary band works. The McCutcheon Bands have long been known for their strong support of our athletic teams through ensembles such as our marching band, “The Pride of McCutcheon” and “The Maverick Pep Band,” which plays for basketball games. These extra-curricular groups, along with the musical pit band, provide enjoyment for our students, support our athletic teams, and provide entertainment for the community and guests that attend those events.

Extracurricular Bands: PoM, MPB, Jazz, S&E

Pride of McCutcheon (PoM)

The Pride of McCutcheon (PoM) is an all-volunteer group that provides school spirit during the football season. Students get together a couple weeks before school starts to learn music and the basic marching fundamentals. The marching band practices twice a week after school once the school year begins and performs several halftime shows a year. In addition to performances at home football games, the Pride of McCutcheon has performed at local parades, ISSMA Festival, Purdue Band Day, and the Harrison Showband Spectacular.

Maverick Pep Band (MPB)

The Maverick Pep Band (MPB) is an all-volunteer group that plays for many home varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball games. One of the largest activities at McCutcheon, the pep band entertains the crowd with many fan-favorite tunes. They rehearse during October into early November and then perform at home boys’ and girls’ basketball games between November and February. It is a very popular extra-curricular activity that every band student should consider doing!
