The Tippecanoe School Corporation has selected Miranda Hutcheson as the new director of the Wildcat Creek Career Cooperative. Hutcheson replaces Pam Rager, who is retiring after 34 years in education.
Hutcheson has several years of experience in career technical education (CTE) – most recently as the Director of CTE for the Lafayette School Corporation. She holds a bachelor's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and a master's degree from Indiana State University.
The Wildcat Creek Career Cooperative is a joint venture of the public schools in Benton, Clinton and Tippecanoe counties. Programs include automotive services technology, construction trades, cosmetology, agriculture, criminal justice and emergency medical services at participating high schools.
Wildcat Creek Governing Board President Doug Miller says Hutcheson will be instrumental in carrying out the organization's mission to provide all students with an opportunity to acquire marketable skills, occupational knowledge and positive attitudes for the world of work.
"Miranda has a strong foundation and experience with career and technical education programs, as well as connections with businesses and industry that will help secure valuable internships and other opportunities for all students in the region," says Miller. "With Miranda's leadership, these programs will expand to provide students with the academic, technical and employability skills students need to pursue postsecondary training and higher education."
Hutcheson will begin as the director of the Wildcat Creek Career Cooperative July 1.
"I am excited and honored to have been chosen to lead this cooperative and welcome the chance to work with all stakeholders," says Hutcheson. "I hope to move our schools to the next level of excellence by increasing opportunities for them to participate in high-quality career and technical education."
